2012 - Synopsis:
2012, directed by Roland Emmerich, is a gripping disaster movie that follows a struggling writer's efforts to keep his family alive amidst a series of catastrophic events that threaten to wipe out humanity. The movie, released in 2009, stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, and offers a thrilling, action-packed ride from start to finish.
The movie is set in the year 2012, which, according to a prediction based on the ancient Mayan calendar, marks the end of the world. As the year approaches, a series of catastrophic events begin to unfold, including earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. The world's leaders come together to try and find a way to save humanity, but their efforts prove futile as the disasters continue to escalate.
Meanwhile, Jackson Curtis (John Cusack), a struggling writer and divorced father, takes his kids on a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park. While there, he stumbles upon some government officials who are guarding a secret area. When he investigates, he discovers that the government is aware of the impending disaster and has built arks to save a limited number of people.
As the disasters continue to worsen, Jackson races to get his family to safety and secure a spot on one of the arks. Along the way, he must battle a corrupt billionaire who is determined to ensure his own survival at the expense of others.
Despite the seemingly insurmountable odds, Jackson manages to get his family onto one of the arks, and they survive the end of the world. However, the fate of the rest of humanity is left uncertain.
